Province of Trapani

The Trapani (Italian: Provincia di Trapani) Province is one of the nine provinces of the Autonomous Region of Sicily of the Republic of Italy. Capital is Trapani.

The province is located on the western tip of Sicily. It consists of the down falling to the plane between Trapani and Marsala Sicily incline and has only in the northeast of higher mountains ( Monte Sparagio 1109 m). The Belice, the San Bartolomeo to the Gulf of Castellammare del Golfo, the Mazaro and Birgi are the main watercourses. The province is bordered on the northeast by the province of Palermo, in the southeast of the province of Agrigento.

The province is divided into 24 municipalities. This includes the Egadi Islands of Favignana with the community and the island of Pantelleria. The main economic activities are agriculture with the cultivation of vegetables and fruits, the production of olive oil and the tuna fishing.

Largest city is Marsala. Tourist centers are San Vito lo Capo and the island of Pantelleria, and the archaeological sites of Mozia, Segesta and Selinunte.
