Queen Anne's County, Maryland

The Queen Anne 's County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland. In the census in 2010, the County had 47 798 inhabitants and a population density of 47.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Centreville.

Geography

The County is located on the Delmarva Peninsula on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay and on the east by Delaware. To Queen Anne 's County is one of Kent Iceland, the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay. The county has an area of 1,370 square kilometers; of which 356 square miles ( 26.99 percent) of water. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Queen Anne 's County was formed in 1706 from parts of Talbot County.

It was named after Anne Stuart (1665-1714), Queen of England ( 1702-1714 ).

1773 a part of the Queen Anne 's County was spun off to form together with a part of the Dorchester County the Caroline County.
