Robert Cogoi

Robert Cogoi ( born October 25, 1939 in Châtelet; actually Mirko Kogoj ) is a Belgian singer.

Biography

Kogoj was born in 1939 in Belgium as the son of Yugoslavian parents. In 1961 he took part in a singing contest and then got his first recording contract with Philips and a commitment to RTL. In 1962 he took first place at the Grand Prix International des Variétés at the Casino of Ostend. Shortly thereafter, he received a gold record in France for 100,000 copies sold its single Si un jour. In 1964 he was chosen internally by the Walloon TV station RTB to represent Belgium at the Euro Vision Song Contest. In order to contribute the ballad written by the singer himself Près de ma rivière was chosen. At the competition in Copenhagen, he was awarded two points (one from Monaco and one from Portugal), reaching a shared tenth place among 16 participants. In 1976, he participated as a composer and performer in the Belgian film Les arpents dorés.
