Tom Dice

Tom Dice ( born November 25, 1989 in Eeklo; actually Tom Eeckhout ) is a Belgian singer-songwriter. He represented his country at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2010 in Norway.

Life

Youth and X Factor

The Eeklo grew up as the youngest of four siblings Tom Eeckhout took his stage name of the youth band The Dice, which he founded 15 years ago and in which he played some time. His musical career began earlier, however, since the age of 8 he attended a music high school and had his first guitar lessons. At age 12 he began to write his first songs. Among his musical role models include Gavin DeGraw, Taylor Swift, Tyler Hilton, Damien Rice, The Kooks, Muse, Placebo and System of a Down.

In 2008 he took part in the Belgian version of the talent show X Factor, finishing in second place, which he achieved greater prominence in the Flemish part of Belgium. Maurice Engelen, Praga Khan under the pseudonym known as a DJ, it was his mentor.

His published in the context of this show Singles could be placed in the Belgian charts. Was particularly successful in this case the song Bleeding Love ( originally performed by Leona Lewis sung ).

Cooperation with Engelen he continued even after X Factor. He now stands at Engelen founded in the spring of 2010 Label Sonic Angel under contract.

Euro Vision Song Contest 2010

On 25 November 2009 the Flemish TV station VRT announced that Tom Dice would take 2010 for Belgium at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Norway. This pre-selection of candidates without an elimination contest was heavily criticized in public. The song Me and my guitar was on the television program Euro Song 2010: presented Een song voor Tom Dice on 7 March 2010, the public.

At the competition in Oslo, he succeeded in the first semi-final by a wide margin to win and thus qualify for the final. Finally, where he won the sixth place, with Germany the only country awarded 12 points to the Belgian Post.
