Rothenburger Straße (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station Rothenburgerstraße (abbreviation: RO) was opened as a 23 Metro Station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn on 28 January 1984. It is 762 meters from the subway station St. Leonhard and 929 meters from Sündersbühl Metro Station and 970 meters from the Plaerrer Metro Station. Since 14 June 2008, he is separation station for the lines U2/U21 and U3. The Rothenburgerstraße is named after the Middle Franconian town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Location and infrastructure

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg Gostenhof and extends below the ground in a north-south orientation in addition to the Rothenburgerstraße between the railway line Nuremberg -Bamberg and Schlachthofstrasse. From the South Head of the platform one, leading into a manifold of levels and from there to the bus station and to the west and east sides of the Rothenburgerstraße. The North of steps leads directly to the surface and then to the DB breakpoint Nuremberg Rothenburgerstraße. An elevator connects the southern part of the train station to the bus station. At the railway station towards Röthenbach closes at the junction of the U3 -south direction Gustav -Adolf-Straße as well as a double track change.

Building and Architecture

The station building is 190 m long, 20 m wide and 15 m deep ( two-fold down position). Construction of the station began on January 26, 1979, were carried out in New Austrian Tunnelling Method. The building depth is due to the already then provided non-crossing expansion of the Franks and the expressway underpass two -channel main collector.

From the architecture of the station is in the style of a cave, the platform walls are covered with coarse-pored concrete.

Lines

The station is served by U21 and U3 lines U2. From the bus station Rothenburgerstraße since the timetable change 2009/2010 moves back the OVF line 113 from after you had been withdrawn along with the city bus towards the city west and Fuerth / Obersasbach since the opening of U3 on 14 June 2008 Gustav -Adolf-Straße. The DB breakpoint Nuremberg Rothenburgerstraße is served by the S -Bahn line S1. The weekend also runs Night bus N7.
