Sandra Perković ( born June 21, 1990 in Zagreb) is a Croatian discus thrower. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she won the gold medal, 2013, it was the first time World Champion. In 2011 she was suspended for doping.

Biography

She was born in Zagreb, where he attended high school. She trains at Zagreb's Dinamo sports club AK - Zrinjevac, and keeps the Croatian record in the discus throw. Perković won the silver medal behind Julia Fischer at the World Junior Championships in 2007. Also at the Junior European Championships in the same year she finished second. The following year, she won the Junior World Championships bronze. In 2009 she became European Junior Champion and finished at the World Championships in ninth place. At the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona, she was the youngest finalist at 20 years and won with 64.67 m in the last attempt gold.

On June 4, 2011 Perković achieved in Varaždin (Croatia ) their personal best with a width of 69.99 m, so far no pitcher had thrown more in the world for twelve years. However, the end of June it was announced that Perković had been tested positive for the banned substance methylhexaneamine in doping controls in the previous month at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix and at the Golden Gala in Rome.
