Sédeilles

Sédeilles ( [ sɛdɛj ] or [ sədɛj ], in the local dialect: [a ː səda jɛ ] ) until June 30, 2006 was a municipality in the district of Granges- près- Marnand District Broye Vully in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Geography

Sédeilles is located on 688 m above sea level. M., 8 km south of the district main town Payerne ( straight line ). The scattered village covers an Verebnungsfläche in Molassehügelland east of Broyetals, in the eastern canton of Vaud Mittelland.

Population

With 143 inhabitants ( end of 2005) Sédeilles was one of the smallest municipalities of the canton of Vaud. Of the 91.7 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 5.6 % and 1.4 % portugiesischsprachig (as of 2000). The population of Sédeilles amounted in 1900 to 214 inhabitants. After the population had decreased to 1990 due to strong migration to 120 persons, a slight increase in population was recorded again since then.

Economy

Sédeilles was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the crop and livestock farming have an important role in the economic structure of the population. Some other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available.

Traffic

History

The area of Sédeilles was settled very early, which is attested by the remains of a Roman villa. The oldest evidence of the place-names appear in the forms Sideles ( 1190? ) And Sedilles ( 1336 ). The origin of the name is unclear.

Since the Middle Ages Sédeilles was part of the rule Villarzel, which belonged to the Bishop of Lausanne. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village came under the administration of the Bailiwick Moudon. After the collapse of the ancien régime Sédeilles belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Payerne.

After the voters of Sédeilles had voted by a large majority for the church merger, the merger of Sédeilles with Rossens (VD ) and Villarzel the new enlarged municipality Villarzel was completed with effect from 1 July 2006.

Sédeilles does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Villarzel.
