Senožaty

Senožaty ( German haymaking ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. You more than twelve kilometers northwest of Humpolec and belongs to Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Senožaty located in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands on a ridge between the valleys of Želivka and its tributary creek Martinický. To the north extends in two valleys of the dam the dam Švihov. To the south, the hills Nečický vršek rises (508 m).

History

The town was founded at the transition from the 12th to the 13th century the monastery Seelau. The first mention of Senožatný place in the year 1352. 1372 Senožatný was referred to as town. 1384 was a stone parish church, which was dedicated to James the Elder. The place belonged to the goods of the monastery, which held the spiritual care. After Senožatný the villages Otavožaty, Čihovice, Nečice, Tukleky, Syrov and Děkančice were the parish. The coat of arms of Senožaty was established in 1651.

1678 examined the abbot Strobl together with the Jihlava pharmacist Kauzmann the water of a fountain, the curative effect was awarded.
