Střítež (Pelhřimov District)

Střítež ( German Stritesch ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers southwest of Pelhřimov and belongs to Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Střítež is located in the southern part of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. Southeast of the village rises the brook Střítežský creek. To the southwest, the Kopaniny rises (662 m) and in the west of the Buček ( Krumwald, 699 m). East leads to Střítež past State Road 34 / E 551 between Pelhřimov and Jindřichův Hradec.

Neighboring towns are boron in the north, and Ústrašín Libkova Voda in the northeast, Božejov in the east, Nová Ves in the southeast, Pelec in the south, Pravíkov, Babinka and Babín in the southwest, and Knížata Krumvald in the west and Markvarec in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the episcopal rule Řečice associated village Střítež place in the year 1379th Grunwald was created in 1393 by Austrian settlers. After the conquest of Řečice by the Hussites in 1422 Střítež was connected to the Gutsherrschaft Božejov. The first written evidence of boron is from the year 1549.
