Outer Limits - The unknown dimension is a Canadian / American science fiction and mystery television series that was produced from 1995. It is a remake of the series The Outer Limits. After seven seasons with a total of 154 episodes, the series was discontinued in 2002.

Concept

The series is like its predecessor, The Outer Limits an anthology of individual episodes. Each episode is thus a self-contained story, with a few individual episodes later in the series to get a sequel.

She is known for a kind of narrator who speaks a few words of introduction and the end of a most profound closing remarks at the beginning. Often it also quotes from the Bible are used. Most episodes thematize a particular scientific concept, such as Time travel, teleportation, wormholes, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, genetic engineering, holography, parallel worlds, cryonics, robotics or nanobots, and treat its effects on humanity. Also, the collision of humanity and aliens or intelligent machines is a common theme.

An interesting concept of this series is that you rarely know in advance how an episode comes to an end; sometimes the protagonist dies at the end, sometimes the whole of humanity - and sometimes picks up the story a happy ending.

On 28 March 2008 the first season of the new edition appeared in Germany. Due to low DVD sales, the production of other squadrons have been discontinued until further notice.
