Tomasz Siemoniak

Tomasz Siemoniak? / I ( born July 2, 1967 in Wałbrzych ) is a Polish politician. Since August 2, 2011, he is Minister of Defense of Poland.

Life

Tomasz Siemoniak studied at the Warsaw School of Economics ( SGH ) and was a fellow at the University of Duisburg. During his studies he was a member of the Independent Students Association and was its Chairman for the Warsaw School of Economics. 1994 to 1996 he worked at Polish Television, where he was inter alia director of the first program. In 1997 he was coordinator of the program Media and Democracy of the Instytut Spraw Publicznych (Institute of Public Affairs ). In 1998 he became director of the Department of Public Information, the Ministry of Defence and remained in that position until 2000. During the same period he was a member of the local council Warszawa Centrum. From December 2000 to July 2002, he was Deputy Mayor of Warsaw. He was also from 1998 to 2002 Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Polish Press Agency ( Polska Agencja Prasowa ). In the years 2002 to 2006 Siemoniak was a member of the Board of Polskie Radio. From November 2006 to November 2007, he was Vice Marshal of the Mazowieckie voivodship. On November 26, 2007 he was appointed Secretary of State, and thus Deputy Minister, Ministry of Interior. On August 2, 2011, he finally took over the office of the Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich from, who resigned 29 July 2011 on the basis of serious breaches on the part of the Polish military in connection with the plane crash near Smolensk.

Tomasz Siemoniak is married and has two children.
