Geographical Location
Vahlbruch is on the Ottensteiner Plateau in the forested mountains.
Neighboring communities
Vahlbruch is the westernmost municipality of the district of Minden wood. In the West, the municipal boundary is also the country's border with North Rhine -Westphalia, and although the city Luegde ( district of Lippe ). Clockwise close to the town of Bad Pyrmont ( district of Hamelin -Pyrmont ) and Ottenstein, Brevörde and Polle (all Samtgemeinde ground Werder Polle, County Holzminden ).

History
The village Meiborssen was mentioned in 1508 as Meibodessen or Maybarssen documented.
From April 1922 Vahlbruch belonged to the district of Hamelin -Pyrmont. In the course of municipal reform by law on the restructuring of municipalities in the wood Minden Vahlbruch came on 1 January 1973 the district of Minden wood and in January 1973, founded Samtgemeinde Polle.
On October 18, 1988, a British fighter aircraft of the type F -4 Phantom II crashed into a wooded area near Brevörde due to an engine failure. The two pilots Pete Lines and Colin Fryer can be used to recover the ejection seat on a field in Meiborssen. The Samtgemeinde Polle then demanded by the federal government in November 1988, a ban on low-level flights in the upper Weser region.
