History

Verizon Communications grew out of a collaboration between Bell Atlantic and GTE. The company employs 235,000 workers (as of 2007 ).

Verizon Wireless, which was created as a joint venture between Verizon and Vodafone, is now the largest mobile provider in the U.S.. Headquarters is the former AT & T headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Verizon Communications owns the majority of Verizon Wireless.
