Voskhod, Moscow Oblast

Voskhod [ vʌsxɔt ] (alternative spelling Voskhod, Russian Восход = sunrise ) is an urban-type settlement in Moscow Oblast with 2007 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

The town was founded in 1965 under the code name Nowopetrowsk -2 and is a closed city ( SATO ) military ( telecommunications device of the Strategic Missile Forces ). In 1992 he received the current name, in 1994 the status of an urban-type settlement. As SATO Voskhod forms a separate urban district on the border of Rajons Istrinski and Russki.

Not far from the settlement the highway M9 is crossed by the Moscow Great Ring A108.
