West Park is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 14,156 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

West Park is located just over 15 km north of Miami and is bordered to the east by Pembroke Park, on the north by Hollywood and in the west on Miramar. In the south the city borders on the Miami -Dade County. The metropolitan area is 7 and 858 crosses or touches from U.S. Highway 441 and the Florida State Roads. To the west of Florida 's Turnpike and Interstate 95 to the east leads respectively near in north-south direction on the city over.

History

The city was founded on 1 March 2005 and is the youngest municipality and 31 of Broward County. It was formed from the former census -designated places in Lake Forest, Carver Ranches, Miami Gardens, and Utopia. They had a total of 4994, 4299, 2706 and 714 inhabitants according to the 2000 census.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 14,156 inhabitants distributed to 4,711 households. The population density was 3011.9 inh. / Km ². 32.8 % of the population were white, 57.9 % African American, 0.4% Native American and 1.0 % Asian Americans. 4.5% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.3% in different ethnic groups. 28.9 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 26.1 % of all households lived in 44.0 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 77.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 3.26 persons and the average family size is 3.65 people.

30.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.4 % were 20-39 years old, 27.8 % were 40-59 years old and 14.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 34 years. 48.1 % of the population were male and 51.9 % female.

The average annual income was $ 43,071, while 15.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
