Wladimir Reznitschenko

Vladimir Resnitschenko (Estonian Vladimir Reznitšenko / Russian Владимир Резниченко; born July 27, 1965 in Almaty, Kazakh SSR ) is a retired Soviet and German fencer and current fencing coach. He was with the sword Olympic champion and world champion.

Born the son of a Cuban and a Russian Vladimir Resnitchenko started early with fencing. In 1984, he joined the fencing club Dynamo Tallinn. In the World Fencing Championships 1987 he became world champion with the Soviet team epee, in individual competition he finished fifth. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 he won the bronze medal with the team and was eighth in singles.

In a World Cup tournament in Italy in 1990 he broke away from the Soviet team and joined the fencing club Tauberbischofsheim. He became German champion with the sword 1992. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, he won the German team gold, with Robert Felisiak from Poland was still a second Späteingebürgerter in the team. In the same year he was awarded the Bambi. In early 1993, returned Vladimir Resnitschenko back for a few years after Moscow. For a time he lived in Esslingen am Neckar and worked as Robert Felisiak as a fencing coach at the TSF Ditzingen. Since 2009 he works as a trainer at the Württemberg SV Illingen.
