Yahotyn

Jahotyn (Ukrainian Яготин; Russian Jagotin ) is a small town in the Kiev Oblast in Ukraine. It is the center of the eponymous Rajons and part of.

Location

Jahotyn located in the Dnieper valley about 100 kilometers east of Kiev on the left bank of the Supij Lake which is fed by the river Supij. For township Jahotyn the villages Tscherwone Saritschja ( Червоне Заріччя ) and Sokoliwschtschyna include ( Соколівщина ).

History

Jahotyn was founded in 1552. From 1648 to 1781 she was a garrison of Perejaslawer regiment. Taras Shevchenko visited the city in July 1843. Since 1861, was Jahotyn Wolostkleinstadt of the Ujesd Pyrjatyn ( Poltava province ). 1925 Jahotyn Rajonszentrum and 1957 was the place obtained its city charter again.

Culture

There are several museums in Jahotyn, including the Historical Museum, the Museum of Education and an art gallery. Furthermore, there is a municipal cultural center and two cinemas.

Economy

The economic development of the city Jahotyn is closely connected with the development of agriculture in the Rajons Jahotyn. The largest employer is the Sugar Refinery of science and production association " sugar ". There is a granary, a dairy plant, a poultry factory, a bakery, a brick factory and a feed mill. The fuel industry consists of a Torfbetrieb. There is also a mechanical test work or work for facilitating structures.

Traffic

Jahotyn has a station on the route Darnyzja - Hrebinka. About two kilometers south of the city runs the M 03 motorway, a section of the European Route 40
