Background

For Formula 3 Masters 2010 came to 24 pilots from the British Formula 3 Championship, the German Formula 3 Cup, the Formula 3 Euro Series and GP3 series. Among other things, launched last year's winner Valtteri Bottas and Jean- Éric Vergne, championship leader of the British Formula 3 Championship, and Edoardo Mortara, the championship leader of the Formula 3 Euro Series, to this race.

12 pilots started with Volkswagen and 12 pilots with Mercedes- Benz engines.

Training

In the first free practice certain drivers from the Formula 3 Euro Series events. Alexander Sims posted the fastest lap time before another four drivers from the Formula 3 Euro Series. In the second session, there was again a predominance of the Formula 3 Euro Series pilots who took the first seven places. Fastest driver was Mortara.

Qualifying

In two qualifying sections Sims was the fastest driver in the field. He secured the pole position ahead of his teammate Bottas. Third place went to Marco Wittmann. In the first five starting positions were pilots from the Formula 3 Euro Series. The best driver in the British Formula 3 championship was Vergne, who went into the race from eighth.

Race

Shortly before the start it began to rain lightly and the launch was carried out behind the safety car. Off the top group only Roberto Merhi had initially put on rain tires and he managed to get away from the rest of the field. The rain, however, does not take long and while at first were the pilots with rain tires at an advantage, the tide turned as the track dried and the pilots who had remained from the start on dry tires had done everything right.

After Merhi had lost the top spot to Sims, Bottas could overtake its started from pole - position teammates and take the lead. The Finn kept the lead until the end of the race, defending his win from last year. Bottas is the first pilot, who won the Formula 3 Masters twice for itself. Wittmann was third and made so that only drivers from the Formula 3 Euro Series on the podium. The best pilot, who was not driving in the Formula 3 Euro Series, Vergne, who finished fourth with the fastest lap was.
