Nigel Melker

Nigel Melker ( * January 25, 1991 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch racing driver. He started in 2012 and 2013 in Formula Renault 3.5.

Career

Like most racers began milking his career in karting, where he was active from 2001 to 2006. Among other things, he won the 2005 German Junior Championship and the runner-up title of European ICA Championship. After a one year break in 2008, he moved to Formula racing and he raced in the Formula Renault Northern European, in which he finished in twelfth place overall, and in the Italian Formula Renault, which he finished in 18th place. 2009 was his main focus on his involvement in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, where he played the majority race of the season and the 23th overall ranked. He also competed in several races of the North European Formula Renault championship and finished this on the 18th place overall.

2010 moved to the newly founded Melker GP3 series with the German team RSC Mücke Motorsport. Although he had achieved each of the first two race weekends of the pole position, he managed only in a race to jump into the points. He finished the season in 23rd place overall. His team finished in last place in the team standings. He also completed two guest appearances in the German Formula 3, 2011, denied Melker for RSC Mücke Motorsport 's second GP3 season. At the season opener, he scored his first and only win of the season. As the best pilot of his team, he finished the season in third place overall. In addition, Melker took 2011 for Mücke Motorsport part in the Formula 3 Euro Series and three races of the FIA Formula 3 Trophy 2011. Also in the Formula 3 Euro Series he won the first race of its own. At the end of the season, he finished with three more wins fourth place in the drivers' standings. 2012 moved to Melker Ocean Racing Technology in the GP2 Series. With a fourth place as best result he finished 19th in the driver standings. While Melker had scored 25 points, its changing teammates came together at one point. In addition milker entered for assisted by Charouz Racing System team Lotus on a race weekend of the Formula Renault 3.5. He scored a third place. 2013 received milker at Tech 1 Racing cockpit in Formula Renault 3.5. Two second places in Spielberg were his best results. With four podium finishes Melker finished the season on top of the sixth. With 136 to 33 points, he beat out his teammate Mikhail Aleshin.
