2011 ITU World Championship Series

The World Championship Series 2011 is a triathlon racing series on the " short- distance" or " Olympic triathlon distance". It will be held from the International Triathlon Union ITU (International Triathlon Union).

Organization

2011 were the best athletes in the world in six different races (Sydney, Yokohama, Madrid, Kitzbühel, Hamburg, London ) and the final ( Beijing) against each other to eventually crown the world champion among themselves.

These races were ( take a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run ), Olympic distance discharged. For recreational athletes also races were on the sprint distance held (0.5 km swim, 22 km bike, 5 km run).

Among the seven venues were 2011 Sydney, London and Beijing three Olympic cities. The originally scheduled for May 14th and 15th races in Yokohama were postponed for fear of excessive radiation after the nuclear accident in Fukushima in March by the ITU indefinitely. The race was held on September 18th and 19th 2011, and the new date was thus already after the " Grand Final" in Beijing. The results should be considered in the rating for the race series in 2012.

In the first three races of the series, the Brownlee brothers and Canadian Paula Findlay, who won the first race for himself recorded.

There were six races in 2011 over the Olympic distance for men and women. In the overall standings of the 2011 season of the World Champion title went on September 10 at the two British athletes Helen Jenkins and Alistair Brownlee.
