The Autoroute A42 (abbreviation: A42 ) is a French motorway connecting Lyon Villeurbanne over with Pont- d'Ain. It forms over entire length, the European Route 611 and is in the extension of the A40 and A39 part of an eastern parallel to the A6 via Bourg -en- Bresse and Dole running highway connection to Dijon.

Importance of the motorway in particular as part of the direct connection route from Lyon to Geneva and Strasbourg.

Course

The Autoroute A42 leads in predominantly north-easterly direction from Villeurbanne on Montluel and Ambérieu -en- Bugey until after Druillat, where it merges into the running of Mâcon on Geneva to the Mont Blanc Tunnel Autoroute des Titans / Autoroute Blanche (A40 ). It is from its beginning on the north or southern bypass ( Périphérique Nord and Sud) from Lyon in Villeurbanne until the toll (French péage ) at Beynost free of charge. There she meets the imaginary as an extension of rocade Est, extending in a north-south direction Autoroute A432 Boisse ( A46 ) - Saint- Laurent- de -Mure ( A43 ).

Behind Vaulx -en- Velin, at Bois des Ormes, the A42 crosses the east ring road ( Rocade Est) of Lyon, on the southern branch as a toll-free national road N346 towards Grenoble ( A43 ) and Marseille (A7 ), and on the northern branch as toll Autoroute A46 direction Paris ( A6) leads.

In Druillat the A42 goes into main direction of travel, unlike the numbering suggests, directly into the A40. The same applies to the A40 in the opposite direction, which is there to A42.
