Altdorf is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden- Württemberg, five miles from Nürtingen. The municipality Altdorf There are no other places near the village of Altdorf.

Geography

Altdorf is located two kilometers south of the Neckar river in the foothills of the Swabian Alb.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities are Neckartailfingen in the north, Nürtingen (district Raidwangen ) in the Northeast, Großbettlingen in the east, the south and Bempflingen Neckartenzlingen in the West. All are located in the district of Esslingen.

History

Altdorf was first documented in 1291. A Friedrich von Altdorf took effect on June 19, 1291 as a witness to a deed of John of Wurmlingen. The name Altdorf probably goes back to the Alemannic Allachdorf what a settlement called. For various findings it can be concluded that here people are resident for four thousand years.

The council consists of the elected honorary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the local council.

Mayor

The independent Joachim Kälberer is mayor of Altdorf. His first term for which he was elected in 2004 with 90.3 % of the vote, ended in 2012. Mayoral election to 2004, the voter turnout was 54.6 %. On January 29, 2012 Joachim Kälberer was confirmed for a further eight years in office. Approval rate of 97.6 % with a turnout of 49.9%.

Education

Altdorf has its own primary school and a daycare center. High Schools, Werkrealschule, Realschule and Gymnasium, located in the neighboring municipality Neckartenzlingen. Likewise, the municipality has a daycare. Since the inauguration of the new extension in the spring of 2012 there is space for 75 children aged 1-6 years.

Waste
