Ansó

Anso is a Spanish municipality in the province of Huesca at the north- western part of the autonomous community of Aragon in the comarca Jacetania. It lies in the valley of the current flowing from north to south in the western Rio Veral Aragonese Pyrenees, bordering France and Navarre. The municipality includes the town Zuriza, while the westernmost small Fago still forms a separate municipality. Located in the valley of the Rio Veral below Anso, now uninhabited town of Santa Lucía already belongs to the municipality of Valle de Hecho.

Geography

The long valley of Anso opens to the south across the ravine Foz de Biniés to the valley of Aragón. It stands on a mountain road with the west adjacent Roncal Valley in Navarre and on another pass, with Hecho in the municipality of Valle de Hecho in the valley of Aragón Subordan in the East in connection. The highest mountain in the municipality is the Peña Forca ( 2391 m).

History
