Background

Bankinter was founded in 1965 as a joint venture between Banco Santander and Bank of America. 1972 Bankinter was independent of its founders and went public in Madrid.

Largest shareholder is the holding Cartival with a share of 22.9%, which is controlled by the family messenger (which are also involved in the Banco Santander).
