Boryspil

Boryspil (Ukrainian Бориспіль; Russian Борисполь / Borispol ) is a city in the Ukraine in the Kiev Oblast with 55 894 inhabitants ( 2006). It is located approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Kiev and is the capital of the eponymous Rajons.

Boryspil, which literally means city of Borys was mentioned late 16th century for the first time. In 1956 it was granted the city rights.

At Boryspil is the international airport of Kiev ( IATA: KBP), north of the city runs since 1901 the railway line Kiev - Poltava.
