Brandon Reid ( born March 9, 1981 in Kirkland, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League since June 2013.

Career

Reid began his career in 1997 Hockey in the Canadian Junior Football League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Halifax Mooseheads. In his third season in Halifax the right shooter was top scorer of his team. In the 62 games he graduated, the 1.77 m wide center scored 124 points scorer and had a plus / minus of 30 stats on. As a result, Reid was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 by the Vancouver Canucks in the seventh round in a total of 208 point. After another year in the QMJHL, this time at the Foreurs de Val -d'Or, the attacker moved to 2001/ 02 in the American Hockey League with the Manitoba Moose, the farm team of the Vancouver Canucks.

There the Canadians became one of the leading players and stood for the first time during the 2002/ 03 season in the squad of the Canucks. In the end, Reid was used in seven games and came up with five points scorer. The following year he went mainly for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL on the ice and completed only three games in the National Hockey League.

Finally, the tech-savvy striker moved to the summer break 2004 in the German Hockey League to the Hamburg Freezers, who provided him with a one-year contract. After the contract was not renewed at the end of the 05 season 2004 /, he moved to the Swiss National League A for the Rapperswil -Jona Lakers. After a successful season Reid received an offer of his former employer, the Vancouver Canucks. However, the attacker could be in the NHL again not prevail and played mostly in the AHL for the Manitoba Moose.

In the end, a long-term commitment in the National Hockey League seemed unlikely and thus the Canadians forced a move to Europe. Finally, there were those responsible for the DEG Metro Stars, which transferred him to the 2007/ 08 to Dusseldorf. Reid was able to convince there and scored in one of the longest games in the DEL - story between Hannover Scorpions and the DEG Metro Stars in the third and final game of the play-off qualifying round after 91:44 minutes, the decisive 3:2. After the 2007/08 season, his contract was extended for another year.

In the 2008 / 09 season, the offensive player with DEG could reach the final of the German Cup, which was lost with 1:3 victories against the Polar Bears Berlin. Reid scored 21 points in 16 completed play-off games and thus became the top scorer. In addition, the jury of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga recorded from him the most valuable player of the playoffs.

In 2010 he went to the Rapperswil -Jona Lakers of the Swiss National League A. In June 2012, he returned to the DEL back to the Hamburg Freezers, where he received a new contract, however, in the spring of 2013.

In June 2013 Reid was taken from HK CSKA Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League contract.
