Bruck an der Mur District

The political district of Bruck an der Mur is a former political district in Austria in the north of Styria ( Upper Styria ), which existed until 2012.

Following the reorganization of the Styrian district headquarters of the district was merged on 1 January 2013 with the district Miirzzuschlag the new district of Bruck - Miirzzuschlag.

The district of Bruck an der Mur had an area of ​​1,300 km ², and bordered to the north by the Lower Austrian districts of Lilienfeld, Scheibbs and Neunkirchen. In the West, the Styrian Liezen, on the southwest by the district of Leoben, in the south of the district Graz-Umgebung and on the east by the district of Weiz and the former Miirzzuschlag. Until 31 December 2012 the entire district around 62,000 inhabitants were reported. The administrative headquarters was in Bruck an der Mur and the license plate number was BM.

The district of Bruck an der Mur was already in the middle of the 19th century a railway junction, as the K. k priv Austrian Southern Railway Company from its 1844 dedicated route Vienna - Graz was in 1868 a distance of Bruck to Leoben branch - Semmering. The Bruck train is still an important railway junction of the Austrian Federal Railways; Express trains to Vienna and Graz keep every hour, every two hours towards Villach.
