Calamus is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) in Clinton County in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Iowa. In 2010 Calamus had 439 inhabitants.

Geography

Calamus is located at 41 ° 49'33 " north latitude and 90 ° 45'30 " west longitude and extending over 1.25 km ². The town is located 4.9 km east of the Wapsipinicon River, a right tributary of the Mississippi. This is some 45 km to the east and forms the border with Illinois. The Wisconsin border runs approximately 85 km to the north. Calamus is the center of Olive Township in the southwest of Clinton County.

The nearest large towns are Dubuque ( 87.7 km to the north), Rockford, Illinois (190 km ENE ), the Quad Cities (51.5 km southwest) and Cedar Rapids ( 85.6 km WNW ).

Traffic

By Calamus leads in west-east direction of the U.S. Highway 30 All other roads are subordinate partly unpaved driveways and local roads.

Parallel to Highway 30 runs a railway line of the Union Pacific Railroad.
