Černovice (Pelhřimov District)

Černovice ( German Cernowitz ) is a town with 1,863 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is situated in 594 m asl Vrchoviny on the border of the circles Kraj Highlands and South Moravian circle in a pristine nature of the westernmost part of the Křemešnické.

History

The first inhabitants arrived in the 7th century in the area, a permanent settlement was there but it was only in the 12th century than by the location of the " salt route " from Chýnovská to Jindřichův Hradec led. To town Černovice was first appointed in 1323, in the 14th century, the city was awarded a coat of arms. The most famous owner of the town were the Rosenbergs and the Lords of Hradec. The status of a city lost Černovice 1960 in the course of municipal reform. On 6 March 1991, the site was again raised to town.

Attractions

The city was destroyed in the past by numerous fires over again. The most important monument is the Castle and the Church. The old town hall, from which more than 600 years, the fortunes of the city were managed, has been redesigned in 1966 to a movie theater. The dean of the church dates from 1737, the original church from the 14th century burned seven years from the front. The castle, built in 1641 by Martin Paradys, the public is not accessible. Popular is the ride on the narrow gauge railway which is still powered by a steam locomotive.
