Cirò Marina

Ciro Marina is a comune in the Italian province of Crotone in the Calabria region with 15,061 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012). It is located 37 km north of Crotone and 122 kilometers east of Cosenza.

Geography

The town stretches along the coast of the Ionian Sea, between the river Lupuda and Cape Punta Alice. This striking point was selected in antiquity by the Greeks to build a temple of Apollo, of which only the foundations remain.

The nearby towns are Ciro and Melissa.

The town is crossed by the Strada Statale SS 106 Jonica, leading from Reggio Calabria to Taranto.
