David Clarkson (ice hockey)
David Clarkson ( born March 31, 1984 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who stands in July 2013 in the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League contract.
Career
David Clarkson began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League, where he then served for three years from 2001 to 2005 initially for one year for the Belleville Bulls and active for the Kitchener Rangers. With the Rangers, he won both the 2003 OHL Championship as well as the traditional Memorial Cup.
Following his junior career, the attacker was signed on 12 August 2005 as a free agent by the New Jersey Devils. In the season 2005/ 06 the Canadians first played exclusively for their farm team, the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League before he made his debut for New Jersey in the National Hockey League in the 2006/07 season. In his rookie season in the NHL Clarkson still played primarily for New Jersey's new AHL farm team, the Lowell Devils, starting from the season 2007/ 08 only for the NHL team the New Jersey Devils.
In July 2013 Clarkson signed a seven -year contract worth a total of 36.75 million U.S. dollars at the Toronto Maple Leafs. The average annual salary therefore amounts to 5.25 million U.S. dollars.
