Don't Cry for Me Argentina

Do not Cry for Me Argentina is a song by Julie Covington from 1977 from the musical Evita. It was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

History

Do not Cry for Me Argentina was published in February 1977, including in the UK, Ireland, Australia and the Netherlands, a number -one hit. Due to the emotional impact of the song Covington was initially of the view that the play had no chance to be a success, and took another version with a less emotional impact on; later, Covington decided to publish the original version. The B- side of the single is the piece Rainbow High. During the Falklands War, the song was often played on the radio.

Cover version of Madonna

1996 coverte Madonna Do not Cry for Me Argentina for the soundtrack to the film Evita. In addition, a dance remix, which can be found only on the CD, and Madonna was the song on the Drowned World Tour before appeared. In the music video Alan Parker directed; to see include parts of the film Evita. Just like the original also Madonna's version became a number -one hit, this time in Canada, France and Spain.
