Edwin E. Roberts

Edwin Ewing Roberts ( born December 12, 1870 Sutter County, California, † December 11, 1933 in Reno, Nevada ) was an American politician.

Roberts taught from 1891 to 1897 as a teacher in Hollister and from 1897 to 1899 in Empire, Nevada. In addition, he studied law and was admitted to the legal profession in 1899. Roberts then began to practice in Carson City. 1900 to 1910 he was district attorney in Ormsby County.

Roberts was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there on 4 March 1911 to 3 March 1919 the state of Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1918, he no longer stood as a candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives, but tried unsuccessfully to be elected to the U.S. Senate. In 1920 he began in Reno again practice in his previous profession. In 1923 he was elected mayor of the city and held that post after he was re-elected in 1927 and 1931, until his death. 1930 tried unsuccessfully to be elected governor of Nevada Roberts. His new attempt to be elected to the U.S. Senate, was previously failed in 1926. He died in 1933 in Reno and was buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
