David Towell

David Gilmer Towell ( born June 9, 1937 in Bronxville, New York, † 10 July 2003 in Reno, Nevada ) was an American politician. Between 1973 and 1975 he represented the state of Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

David Towell attended schools in Bronxville and New York City. Then he studied until 1960 at the University of the Pacific in Stockton ( California). Between 1960 and 1966 he was a member of the Squadron of the National Guard of Nevada. At that time, Towell has been renowned for the real estate business.

Political career

David Towell was a member of the Republican Party. In 1970, he led the party organization in Douglas County. In the years 1968, 1970 and 1972 he was a delegate to the local Party congresses of the Republicans in Nevada. In the congressional elections of 1972 Towell was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. There he broke on January 3, 1973 from Walter S. Baring. Since he was not confirmed in 1974, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1975.

After the end of his time in the House of Representatives David Towell worked again in the real estate industry. In 1976, he ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. He died in June 2003 in Reno.
