Thomas Wren

Thomas Wren ( born January 2, 1826 in McArthurstown, Ohio; † February 5, 1904 in Reno, Nevada ) was an American politician. Between 1877 and 1879 he represented the state of Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Thomas Wren attended the public schools of his home. He then moved with his parents to Illinois. In 1850 he moved to California, where he prospected for three years for gold. Between 1855 and 1857 he was Deputy District Administrator ( Deputy Clerk ) in El Dorado County. After studying law and compulsory admission to the bar he began in Downeyville to work in his new profession.

Political career

In 1863 he moved to the Nevada Territory, where he worked in the following years in various cities as a lawyer. From 1874 to 1876 he was attorney for the city of Austin. He was also president and counsel for the Richmond Mining Company in Eureka. Thomas Wren joined the Republican Party. In 1875 he was a deputy in the Nevada Assembly. In the congressional elections of 1876, he was elected as successor to William Woodburn in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he graduated between 4 March 1877, and the March 3, 1879 a legislative period.

After the end of his time in Congress Thomas Wren worked as a lawyer in Reno. There he also died in 1904.
