James Bilbray

James Hubert Bilbray ( born May 19, 1938 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an American politician. Between 1987 and 1995 he represented the first electoral district of the state of Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years and career

James Bilbray attended Las Vegas High School and then studied until 1960 at the University of Nevada. From 1955 to 1956 Bilbray was a member of the National Guard of Nevada, whose reserve he served until 1963. After studying law at the American University in Washington, and his admission to the bar he began practice his new profession. Between 1965 and 1967 he was a deputy district attorney in Clark County. After that he was in this district until 1968 legal advisor to the juvenile court. In the years 1979 and 1980 he was a municipal judge in Las Vegas.

Political career

Bilbray was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1981 and 1987 he was a member of the Senate from Nevada, where he was in control and the Legal Affairs Committee. In 1986 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives; there he dissolved on January 3 in 1987 to the Senate Harry Reid exchanged. After some re- election James Bilbray could implement his mandate in Congress until January 3, 1995. He was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Intelligence Committee of the Armed Forces ( Armed Services and Intelligence Committee). In the congressional elections of 1994, Bilbray defeated with less than 1400 votes difference John Ensign of the Republican Party.

After his time in Congress, Bilbray worked as a lawyer in a large law firm. In 2006 he was appointed to the board of the United States Postal Service. His local office runs until 2015. Bilbray James is the cousin of Brian Bilbray, who represents since 2006 as a Republican to the State of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.
