Jim Gibbons (U.S. politician)

James Arthur "Jim" Gibbons ( born December 16, 1944 in Sparks, Nevada ) is an American politician ( Republican). From 1997 to 2006, he was deputy from Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives; then he served from 2007 to 2011 as the 28th governor of this state.

Biography

Jim Gibbons grew up in his birthplace Sparks. He took a degree at the University of Nevada Reno, where he interrupted from 1967 to 1971, to serve during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. He arrived in Reno in 1967 graduated as B. A. and 1973 as MS, 1979, he completed a study of the law at the Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles with a doctorate degree (JD ) from. He then worked at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

In addition to his law practice, he was a pilot in both civilian airlines and from 1975 to 1996 at the Nevada Air National Guard, most recently as the deputy commander, works. He flew a reconnaissance aircraft in the Iraq war. In addition, he worked as a hydrologist for the water authority (Office of Federal Watermaster ). In the years from 1989 to 1993 he was a member of the Nevada Republican Assembly.
