Charles L. Richards

Lenmore Charles Richards ( born October 3, 1877 in Austin, Nevada, † December 22, 1953 in Reno, Nevada ) was an American politician. Between 1923 and 1925 he represented the state of Nevada in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Charles Richards attended the public schools in Nevada and Pennsylvania. After studying law at Stanford University in California, he was admitted in 1901 as a lawyer. Then he started in Tonopah to work in his new profession. From 1903 to 1904 he was district attorney in Nye County.

Political career

Richards was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1919 he was a deputy in the Nevada Assembly. In 1922, he acted as Chairman of the Democratic Party in Nevada. From 1923 to 1924 he was also adviser of the American Chamber of Commerce. 1922 Richards was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. There he took over from the March 4, 1923 Samuel S. Arentz. Since he was not confirmed, however, in 1924, Charles Richards was able to complete only one legislative period to March 3, 1925 at the Congress.

After the end of his time in the federal capital Washington Richards worked until his death in Reno in 1953 as a lawyer.
