EuroBerlin France

Euro Berlin France, from 1990 € Berlin, was an active mainly in transport from and to ( West) Berlin Franco- German airline based in Paris and based on the Berlin-Tegel Airport. She was a joint venture between Lufthansa and Air France.

History

EUR France Berlin was founded in 1988 on the initiative of the then state-owned Deutsche Lufthansa AG together with the equally state Air France within the framework of government policy, the Franco-German cooperation as a joint venture. Since only airlines of the victorious powers of World War II West Berlin were allowed to fly (see the history of Air Berlin), Air France held a 51 percent stake, while the Lufthansa Group had an equity stake of 49 percent. Flight operations, the airline took on 7 November 1988 at the start of the winter timetable.

In this way, the Lufthansa Group procured through the slots ahead a market strategically valuable indirect access to West Berlin. With the reunification of Germany in 1990 this market strategic objective was achieved, so that Euro Berlin France was renamed in the same year in Berlin Euro. Until its dissolution in December 1994, she flew as a low-cost airline on behalf of Lufthansa, which uses the euro since Berlin slots at Berlin-Tegel airport itself.

The logo on the vertical tail of the aircraft from EUR France Berlin symbolized this joint venture between the two flag carriers: The circular area reminiscent of the stylized sun of Lufthansa, the " piecemeal " Tricolore to Air France.

As aircraft were only seven modern, in the United Kingdom registered Boeing 737-300 used, the seating capacity was on average utilized profitably to 60 percent. The machines were purchased from the British charter airline Monarch Airlines on wet lease. The cockpit crew was provided by each monarch, while the cabin crew was its own.
