Ferry County is a county located in the state of Washington of the United Staatenmit 7260 inhabitants. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Republic.
Geography
The county has an area of 5847 square kilometers; of which 139 square miles (2.73 percent) of water.
History
The Ferry County was formed on February 21, 1899 from parts of Stevens County. It was named after Elisha P. Ferry, the first Governor of the State of Washington.

According to the census of 2000, there were 7,260 people in the county. There were 2,823 households and 1,987 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 75.48 % White, 0.21 % African American, 18.28 % Native American, 0.29 % Asian, 0.06 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 2.23 % from other races groups; 3.46% were descended from two or more races. 2.82% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 2,823 households out of which 30.10 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.70 % were married couples living together, 10.20% had a female householder with no husband. 29.60% were non-families. 24.80 % of all households and 9.10% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.95 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 26.90 % under the age of 18, 7.60 % from 18 to 24, 23.40% from 25 to 44 years, 29.50 % between 45 and 64 years and 12.60% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 107.70 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.20 males.
The median income for a household was $ 30,388, and the median income for a family was $ 35,691. Males have a median income of $ 32,103, women $ 23,371.
