The Chelan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Wenatchee.

Geography

History

The county was founded on 13 March 1899. The name of the county goes back to the Indian tribe of Chelan. The name is a derivation of a word from a Salish language, Tsi - Laan, which means deep water. According to the same word also of Lake Chelan and the Chelan River were named.
