Kitsap County is a county located in the state of Washington of the United States with 231 969 inhabitants. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Port Orchard.

History

The Kitsap County was formed on January 16, 1857 from parts of King County and Jefferson counties. It was named after Chief Kitsap, a leader of the Suquamish.

The racial the population was composed of 84.27 % White, 2.87 % African American, 1.62 % Native Americans, 4.39% Asian American, 0.78% Pacific Islander, and 1.43% from other races; 4.64% were descended from two or more races. 4.14% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
