FIL European Luge Natural Track Championships

In the natural track luge European the European champion in tobogganing in the disciplines of single-seater (men and women ) and doubles (men only ) are determined since 1970. Since 2010, a team competition takes place. The European Championships are in contrast to the Luge Championships held here not on the ice rink, but on natural tracks. Be organized the race of the FIL. So far there was only medalist from four different organizations: Austria, Italy, Russia ( and previously the Soviet Union / CIS) and Poland. In the single-seaters of the men so far all awarded medals went exclusively to starter from Austria and Italy. Rules

The decision in the natural track luge European championship falls into single seaters currently unlike European Luge Championships in three runs. In the doubles, the Championship will be decided in two runs. In the team competition, each a single-seater of ladies and gentlemen, a double seater in the men complete each one crossing. Until 1999, the European Championship was held with three exceptions always in odd years. Under the current Regulations is committed, that they are always in even years (ie 2008, 2010, 2012) takes place. The natural track luge European championship does not count for the World Cup, it will be awarded no World Cup points.
