A first proposal for the National flag of the Independent Jamaica consisted of five horizontal stripes ( green-yellow- black-yellow- green), with the black stripe should be twice as wide as each of the other strip. Although the British authorities approved this design, you came from him again because the flag of Tanganyika, which had become independent in 1961, also consisted of five horizontal stripes in the same color sequence. The only difference in the width of the individual strips. The green and the black stripes were the same width at the African flag and the two yellow stripes for considerably narrower. At times, was a horizontal tricolor of Jamaica in an interview.
