Flag of the Falkland Islands

The flag of the Falkland Islands was introduced on 29 September 1948. As is customary in Colonial Flags of British Overseas Territories, it leads on blue cloth at the top of the left side and a Union Jack as a sign of solidarity with the mother country and on the outside of the coat of arms of the Falkland Islands.

1864 led Britain, a flag, a standardized system. 1865 also was the colonial governments run their own flags allowed. These flags lead at the top of the mast (see Gösch ) and a Union Jack flying on the side of a badge, the respective coat of arms. The government flags are blue ( Blue Ensign ) and trade flags red ( Red Ensign ).

1999 under the coat of arms blank white circular area was removed from the flag. Between 1865 and 1948 two more Blue Ensign flags were in use.
