Frederik Van Lierde

Frederik Van Lierde ( born May 25, 1979) is a Belgian triathlete, multiple Ironman winner (2011, 2012, 2013 ) and reigning Ironman World Champion ( 2013).

Career

Frederik Van Lierde operates triathlon since 1997. 2007 he became European Champion on the long distance in Belgium. In Nice, he was able in June 2011 his first Ironman victory obtain (3.86 km swim, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running). He has repeated this success in 2012 and 2013.

At the World Championships in Hawaii in 2012, he reached the third place. In October 2013, he became the second Belgian Ironman Hawaii and became world champion.

Frederik Van Lierde is coached by his compatriot Luc Van Lierde, who won in Hawaii in 1999. The two are not related. Luc Van Lierde is also an active triathlete and held more than ten years the world record for the fastest Ironman ever.
