Hallandale is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 37 113 inhabitants ( 2010). The metropolitan area has a size of 11.8 km ².

Geography

Hallandale Beach is located about 15 km south of Fort Lauderdale and 15 km north of Miami. Adjacent municipalities are Hollywood and Pembroke Park ( Broward ) and the South Golden Beach and Aventura (Miami- Dade ).

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 37 113 inhabitants distributed to 27,057 households. The population density was 3404.9 inh. / Km ². 73.7 % of the population were white, 18.7 % African American, 0.2% Native American and 1.4% Asian Americans. 3.3% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.6% in different ethnic groups. 31.8 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 38.9 % of all households lived in 18.8 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 51.1 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.02 persons and the average family size is 2.73 people.

16.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.3% were 20-39 years old, 26.9 % were 40-59 years old and 31.9% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 47 years. 47.5 % of the population were male and 52.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 34,645, while 20.6 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 59.66 % of the population spoke Spanish 19.50% and 20.84 % had a different mother tongue.

Religion

In Hallandale, there are 12 different churches from seven different denominations. Among the belonging to a denomination churches the Baptist church is most strongly represented at three churches. There are no denominational church belonging ( as of 2004).

Traffic

Interstate 95 is tangent to the urban area to the east. In addition, the lead U.S. Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A, 5, and 858 through the city.
