Heimberg, Switzerland

Heimberg is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. The name is probably a form of the Old High German personal name Haimo / Heimo and the generic word mountain.

Geography

Heimberg is the lowest town in the Aare Valley, part of the Bernese Oberland. The commune includes the hamlets Bümberg and Thungschneit (the latter was a separate municipality until 1869 ), which lie north- west of the village Heimberg.

The community is one of the northern suburbs of the city of Thun. Neighboring communities of Heimberg are Fahrni, Steffi Castle, Thun, Uetendorf, Uttigen, gravel, and Brenzikofen Oppligen.

History

In 1146 a knight Burkhart von Heimberg occurred in a document as a witness; this is also the first mention of Berg's home at all and is regarded as the birth of the church. By the pottery itself Heimberg developed in the 18th century greatly. The pottery industry reached its peak between 1800 and 1850.

1869 the then independent municipality was merged with Thungschneit Heimberg.

In 1992, Heimberg has concluded with the City Horažďovice in the Czech Republic ( Bohemia ) a friendship agreement as a partner community. Since then, the mutual contact authorities, club and school level is maintained in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

1996 celebrated Heimberg its 850th anniversary with a big party with a parade and various other activities. On this occasion, a new home Berger book was published.

Policy

Heimberg is governed by a seven-member council. Votes take place at the community meeting.

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 33.9 %, 17.1 % BDP, SP 15.3 %, EDU 6.9 %, FDP 6.1 %, 5.9 % GPS, EPP 5.7 %, 3.8 % glp, CVP 1.8 %.

Sports

Football: FC Heimberg is the football club of the church, which was founded in 1934. The association denies its home games in the " stadium forest garden ». The first team of FC Home Mountain plays in the 3rd Liga. The club is known for its good goalkeeper training and youth movement. In the community Heimberg the FC is the biggest club with 600 members. Particular emphasis is placed on the junior movement as well as on the integration of foreigners. The club is supported by the surrounding commercial, but lacks by the rapid growth of the population on lawns and recreational areas.
