Hyèvre-Paroisse

Hyèvre -Paroisse is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Hyèvre -Paroisse is located at 275 m, 6 km east-northeast of Baume- les -Dames and about 34 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in a valley widening of the Doubs on the right the north side of the river, in the extreme north- western ridges of the Jura Mountains, at the western foot of the Montagne du Chaillon.

The area of ​​8.79 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Doubstals. The Doubs flows here with several turns by a usually around 500 m wide, flat alluvial plain to west southwest and simultaneously forms the waterways of the Rhine- Rhone Canal. Before entering the valley widening of Hyèvre -Paroisse it passes the Jura - edge chain deeply cut in one, klusartigen transverse valley. The valley is flanked by steep slopes, the various local rock walls, caves and projections show, including the fauteuil de Gargantua west of the village. The river always forms the southern boundary. The church floor comprises the western part of the northern slope of the valley with the sun-exposed terrain terrace of Bois- la -Ville. The northern boundary runs along the adjacent wooded ridge ( 548 m) above of Bois- la -Ville. To the north- east, the municipality area extends into a trough, which on its north side by the Kalkhochfläche of Voillans, on the south by the wooded heights of the Jura - edge chain with Montagne du Chaillon ( with 554 m the highest elevation of Hyèvre -Paroisse ), Bois de branne ( 525 m) and Mont Fort ( to 520 m ) is limited.

To Hyèvre -Paroisse the hamlet of Bois- la -Ville is one (380 m) on a terrace on the northern side of the valley of the Doubs. Neighboring communities of Hyèvre -Paroisse are Voillans and L' Hôpital- Saint- Lieffroy in the north, Clerval, Branne and Roche -lès- Clerval in the east, Hyèvre- Magny in the south and Baume- les -Dames in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Hyèvre belonged to the rule Clerval, which came under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard in the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Up to the time of the French Revolution Hyèvre -Paroisse and Hyèvre- Magny formed a single community. To a field change occurred in 1972 when the previously separate Bois- la -Ville merged with Hyèvre -Paroisse. Since 2001 Hyèvre -Paroisse is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays Baumois.

Attractions

The single-nave church of Saint -Pierre was built in 1750.

Population

With 189 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Hyèvre -Paroisse one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. During the 20th century, the population moved always in the range between 180 and 250 people.

Economy and infrastructure

Hyèvre -Paroisse was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, especially in the hospitality industry sector. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road N83, which runs from Besançon to Montbéliard. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 10 km. Another road connection with Hyèvre- Magny. Hyèvre -Paroisse has a station on the railway line Dole - Besançon - Belfort, which is, however, no longer served.
