Indiana wine

Viticulture in Indiana called viticulture in the American state of Indiana. According to U.S. law, each state and each county is a protected designation of origin by definition and does not need to be recognized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as such.

Due to the early settlement and a wine history since 1816, Indiana was still mid-19th century to tenth of the main producing areas of the United States. Like almost everywhere came the wine at the latest by the alcohol prohibition to a halt. Currently there is a single defined American Viticultural Area ( AVA short ), the Ohio River Valley AVA.
